Actor Headshots in Orlando: Commercial vs Theatrical Looks

By Gerson Lopez · GLPX Studio, Orlando FL

Orlando has a busy acting scene, from theme park entertainment and commercials to theater and film. Whatever you audition for, your headshot has one job: look exactly like the person who walks into the room. Here's how to get headshots casting directors can actually use.

Commercial vs theatrical

Most actors need two looks.

Commercial is warm and approachable. Think a friendly smile, brighter colors and an expression that says "I'm the person you'd trust in this ad." It's used for commercials, print work and many theme park and brand roles.

Theatrical is moodier and more dramatic. Less smile, more intensity, often darker clothing and a little more contrast. It's used for film, TV and stage roles where casting wants to see range.

We can shoot both in one session by changing your wardrobe, the backdrop and the energy.

What casting directors look for

  • It looks like you today. Same hair, same weight, same style you'd walk in with.
  • Your eyes are sharp. Focus and connection with the lens matter more than anything else.
  • Natural retouching. Remove temporary things like a blemish, but keep your real skin, freckles and features.
  • Simple framing. Your face should be the clear subject, with nothing distracting in the background.

What to wear

  • Solid colors in jewel tones or neutrals
  • Simple necklines that frame your face
  • No logos, no busy patterns, minimal jewelry
  • Something that hints at your type without becoming a costume

Bring several tops so we can switch between your commercial and theatrical looks. For more ideas, see what to wear for your headshots.

During the session

You don't need to arrive with expressions ready. I'll talk you through it, give you small adjustments and keep the energy moving until the look feels natural. Sessions run in English or Spanish.

After the session

You'll pick your favorites from a private online gallery. Your final images come retouched and ready for casting sites, your agent and your website.
